Dear Parents, Families, and Parishioners of San Felipe de Neri,
Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year!!! My name is Katie Riccio and I am the new principal of our beautiful school. To say that I feel blessed to be here is a complete understatement.
Catholic education is my passion, my ministry, and my vocation. Pope Benedict XVI once stated that, “No child should be denied his or her right to an education in faith, which in turn nurtures the soul of a nation.” At San Felipe de Neri Catholic School, our teachers share in Pope Benedict’s vision of Catholic education. Every teacher is highly qualified and licensed in their individual content areas and many have advanced degrees. In addition to teaching traditional academics, we also offer classes in Spanish, Art, Music, Technology, PE, and Theology for all of the students in our school.
San Felipe is an incredibly unique and special school. Historically, we are entering our 135th year of providing a Catholic education for elementary and middle school students in Albuquerque. We are one of the oldest, continuously operating schools in New Mexico. Our rich history allows our 21st century learners to make connections to the past that are meaningful to the lessons they are learning today.
Educating our students does not stop when they leave the classroom. Our direct association with the parish and the Archdiocese opens up a new world for our children. It is my hope that our school continues to cultivate a strong relationship with the parish. One of the unparalleled benefits of working in a Catholic school is the support provided by the parishioners, and it is my desire to foster the relationship between school and parish.
It is truly a blessing to work where I can celebrate my beliefs, attend mass, and be a part of a larger community of faith. This is what fuels my passion for Catholic education as a teacher, administrator, and parent. San Felipe de Neri is an exceptional school and it would be an honor to share what makes our religious and educational program so remarkable. For that reason, I would like to personally invite our parishioners and new families to stop by the school, meet me, and take a tour. Please call us at 505-338-1840 or email me at kriccio@sanfelipedenerischool.org.
I look forward to continuing to get to know all of you in the months to come.
Blessings,
Katie Riccio
