Hello. My name is Matthew Gonzales. I am happily married to my wife, Jeanette, and I have an absolutely wonderful job. Unlike so many people in the world, I enjoy coming to work every day. I am truly a blessed man! I am honored to work in the front office and serve the parishioners of the San Felipe de Neri Parish. What an awesome responsibility and privilege to represent Jesus. My family roots at San Felipe go back over 100 years. This is my 5th year in my current position in the office. I have college degrees in both Business Management and Accounting and I am a United States Marine Corps veteran.
Along with Holy Scripture, The Catechism of the Catholic Church and the writings of Pope John Paul II (now St. John Paul) were instrumental in my re-conversion to the faith over 25 years ago. Sadly, like many "Cradle Catholics" I did not take my faith as seriously as I should have in my youth ... and I certainly did not practice it as I should have. Thankfully, God never gives up on us! And, as the prophet Jeremiah exclaimed, "When I found your words I devoured them!" (Jeremiah 15:16)
Again, like many of my fellow Catholics, I have family members who have strayed from our faith. I am on my knees in intercessory prayer for them, as I'm sure so many have been for me throughout my lifetime. That's what being Catholic is all about, right? We don't want any of our loved ones to be lost. St. Philip Neri, pray for us.
