Sacrament of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist
Children are prepared for the Sacrament of Reconciliation (penance) and Holy Eucharist in the third grade. Children will be expected to attend practice session in order to prepare them for the actual participation in the celebration of First Penance and Holy Eucharist. Date and times will be announced.
“The Eucharist is the, “source and summit of the Christian Life.” (CCC 1324)
The celebration of this sacrament is more than a rite of passage and is one that should be taken with the highest level of respect and preparation. It is required that parents cooperate with the work of the Catechists in preparing their children to receive this greatest of gifts. Dates and information will be announced regarding a parents retreat, practices and information sessions.
All children who are preparing for a sacrament must have attended two years of Religious Education classes by the time they receive the sacrament. Families with children older than 3rd grade and in need of the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist are asked to call the office of Religious Education at San Felipe and set up an appointment with the Director of Religious Education.
